Today Microsoft announced the general availability of SharePoint 2016 during “The Future of SharePoint” virtual launch.

As per Microsoft, SharePoint 2016 is the most reliable, high performance, scalable and feature rich release so far. Those who has MSDN Subscriptions, can go ahead and download the latest release of SharePoint – SharePoint 2016.

From Concept to Reality

Totalamber Sri Lanka together with Microsoft Sri Lanka organized a workshop – “From Concept to Reality” for Small and Medium Business market to increase the awareness of Office 365, SharePoint and Azure.

I delivered a session on how to leverage SharePoint Online within the organization to move away from File Servers and how to improve the employee productivity using SharePoint Online features.

Collab365 – What’s new in SharePoint 2016 for Power Users

I delivered my 1st session today at 11.00 PM – 12.00 PM GMT (07th October) at Collab365 on “What’s new in SharePoint 2016 for Power Users”. It was at 4.30 AM (08th October) for me and delivering a live session at this time for the 1st time.

This is one of the few live broadcasting sessions at Collab365 and it was nice to see more than 30 attendees.

Search is one of the important workloads of SharePoint Products and Technologies. Microsoft’s Enterprise Search offerings have evolved very fast over the last few years and have gone through number of changes.

SharePoint 2010 release introduced the most powerful Search platform by combing the power of FAST ESP with SharePoint platform. However, customers were confused when selecting the right Search platform since there were so many Search offerings.

Following are the different Search offerings we had around SharePoint 2010:

However, not all Service Applications are available for SharePoint Online compared to On-premise. While Microsoft continue to improve both, always advantages to know the differences between these two as of today. Comparison between SharePoint Online Standard and Dedicated can be done using 04 parameters and they are:
